Should You Shoot Your Corporate Video In A Studio?

Deciding whether to shoot your corporate video in a studio or not can be a challenge.

But luckily, we’re here to help. Making the decision to shoot in a studio isn’t always easy.

Depending on the type of corporate video you and your creative core have decided on, you can then begin the process of choosing how you’d like to go about it.

Often times, we find that companies like to address their camera directly. Sometimes, their message is better delivered simply and without extra background visuals. Other times, companies require an open space to shoot video tutorials or instructional videos in. The emphasis is on what the subject is doing or saying in an open, white setting. This way, it’s easier for a viewer to pay attention to the content on their screen.

Companies sometimes choose a different approach. When not using an in studio production crew, clients might sometimes want to shoot in-house. This is anywhere from their outdoor property to around their warehouses to inside their offices. One benefit to shooting in-house is the added atmosphere it gives. It provides viewers with a glimpse of what your video topic is all about, who you are, and what your corporate culture is like. If needs be, you can show your product or service directly while it’s in use (as opposed to explaining it via audio, animation or diagram etc.).

So what do you do?

Well, first things first, you’ll need to decide on the overall tone of your video. What kind of message are you looking to convey? Is it light-hearted and easygoing, or serious subject matter? Should it be clean and swift, or spend some time learning the ins-and-outs or nitty-gritty?

Then you’ll need to consider sound portion. While a studio is a much more controlled setting, shooting on location requires more prep work to get the right audio. Production crews will need to factor in which kind of equipment to bring to hone in on what is being said in a potentially loud atmosphere. Are there loud machines going off? Construction? Office ambience? These all make a difference.
