Key West Video Announced as a 2022 National and Local Excellence Award Winner by UpCity!

Covid-19 has infected over a million people worldwide but we don’t have numbers reflecting the number of people whose mental health has taken a toll due to this virus. Your day to day life has probably changed drastically. You turn on the news and the only story that’s being covered is about Covid-19. You find yourself unmotivated, unproductive and simply not yourself and this could be due to a number of factors.

1. Physical Distancing during Covid-19

Physical Distancing is crucial to flattening the curve around the world. There’s no doubt, however, that social distancing has taken a toll on everyone’s health. Not being able to see people every day can be heartbreaking and lonely. Even Introverts are struggling. Things we normally take for granted like going to parks or roaming freely in a grocery store are now things we do with Covid-19 in mind.

Apps like Skype, Zoom, and Facetime let you video call your loved ones. Did you want to watch a movie on Netflix with all your friends? Use this plugin, called Netflix Party, and simulate the group viewing experience online. Just because we’re physical distancing doesn’t mean you have to social distance too.

2. Working from Home during Covid-19

Working from home is everyone’s dream until you’re stuck doing it weeks on end especially if it’s not something you’re used to. You may have kids running around due to Covid-19 related school closures. If you live with your parents they’re asking you to get things done. You may not have a workspace or area that helps stimulate creativity and productivity. Working from home is a difficult feat and it’s not for everyone. Good thing there are plenty of tips around the web to help you get your workspace in order.

3. Lack of Sunlight

There is plenty of research that connects mental well being to Sunlight. Sunlight has a plethora of benefits including boosting your mood, providing Vitamin D and improving your sleep cycle. As the weather gets warmer the urge to spend more time outside increases. Covid-19 has stopped us from enjoying public parks but that doesn’t mean you can’t take a walk in the neighborhood.

4. Lack of Physical Activity

Being stuck indoors all day means you aren’t doing a lot of moving unless its to brew another cup of coffee. Physical activity is another proven method to help combat mental health issues. Gyms are closed and even if you have a home gym you could be lacking the motivation to use it.

Get moving by taking on an online group fitness challenge or commit to meeting a step goal. Staying active during the quarantine will boost your mood and help you stay productive.

The reality is that we’re going through is a collective traumatic experience and if you find yourself feeling off-balance or not your regular self then do not beat yourself up for it. Every day can’t and won’t be the most productive but that is completely okay.
