tiktok challenge

Do you have a TikTok account for your business? If you don’t, but you’re considering it, go read our blog Is TikTok Good for Business? If you do have a TikTok business account, this blog is about participating in challenges to get more views and draw attention to your company. After all, the app has 1 billion monthly active users with the average person spending 52 minutes a day watching videos. Many of these accumulated minutes are spent viewing trending challenges, so why not insert your business into the mix with your own version of a TikTok challenge?

TikTok Stats

First, we’ll take a look at some convincing TikTok stats. These make it easy to see why it’s worth your time to make and post TikTok challenge videos.

  • As of January 2021, there were 689 million active users worldwide. This is excluding the 600 billion active daily users in China, where the app operates as Douyin.
  • The app is available in 155 countries
  • Tiktok was the most downloaded app on the Apple app store in Q1 2019. That means it was downloaded more than YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat.

These numbers prove that TikTok has incredible reach. And it’s not just for younger users. More and more adults are logging on to TikTok with 67% of those engaged older than 20.

Using TikTok for Business

The TikTok community loves to participate in challenges! If you’re active on the app, you should be familiar with what’s trending. By jumping in on the challenges that fit your business and your team, you can show that you understand the internet zeitgeist. Things move fast on the app, so try to catch a challenge while it’s hot to avoid posting outdated content. The app’s For You page is a good place to start since it’s based on what you’re watching and who you follow. You can also check out what’s trending in video and sounds to find challenges that are a good match for your business—the Discover page is great for this kind of search. Also pay attention to popular hashtags that are often linked to challenges. If you see something that could show off your company’s personality, speak to your goods and services, or just feels right, go for it!

Choosing a Challenge

If you’re not sure where to start when it comes to a TikTok challenge, search for lists of what’s been popular in the past. This will help you familiarize yourself with the idea of a challenge and give you a rundown of videos people couldn’t stop watching. Although dance challenges seem to be the most popular, there really is a wide variety. Explore music challenges, fitness challenges, Q&A challenges, cooking challenges, and more.

One current TikTok challenge we think is especially suited to businesses is the Mosaic. The idea behind this challenge is that everyone is a Mosaic of the people around them, and users talk about how these influences have been incorporated into their lives. We think this is a great way to introduce your company and your values. Talk about the former employee who always had wrapped candy at the front desk for customers, so that’s a tradition you’ve carried on. Or explain how the founder had a dog named Riley which is why the business logo is a pooch with the same name. Customers love to hear personal details, allowing them to connect with your business.

#Challenge

If you’ve been using your TikTok business account passively, challenges are a great way to finally engage. Show your audience some personality and help them remember you the next time they’re shopping for the product or service you offer. Challenges are all about having fun and being part of the TikTok community, so don’t be afraid to put your business out there. And don’t forget to use the related hashtag when you post!
