Influencers can be anyone and it’s important to realize that being an influencer can be a business in of itself. A lot of influencers make revenue through brand pitches and getting brand deals that allow them to promote a product’s brand. We’ve talked a bit about influencer marketing and how you, as a brand, can get influencers to work with you. What about, the other way around? How can you, an influencer, get a brand to work with you?

Know Your Brand

It’s exciting to think about working with brands but it’s important to know your personal brand before you start approaching others. Who’s your demographic? What type of content does your audience like? What does your personal brand stand for? All of these things are important questions to ask yourself to get to your know own brand. Once you know who you are, get to know the brand you want to work with.

Research the Brand

Before you send out any emails make sure you’ve done thorough research on the brand that you want to work with. Do you know which channels they actively use? Which influencers are already working with them? Who’s they’re demographic? Which products do you want to promote the most? Do they have a press kit you can use as inspo? This is all the information you’ll need to ensure you’re making an informed decision as well as give you a foundation to build your pitch upon.

The Email Pitch

Now that you’re equipped with knowledge about the brand it’s time to start crafting the email pitch. The pitch should be clear and concise. Get to the point. Who are you, and what do you want. Ensure that you link to your social mediainfluencer email pitch profiles and show the brand that you mean business. Highlight some of your key stats such as your engagement rate, monthly views, follower growth, and your conversion rates. Brands want to see how people interact with you and what you can do for them.

When you send an email pitch you definitely won’t hear back from the brand right away. Make sure you aren’t following up with them too much. Give them time and if you want to send a friendly follow up feel free to do so in a week or two.

Whether you have 2000 followers or 2 million followers its important to understand your value and what you bring to the table. This is key information when it comes to pitching to brands and it’s going to show them why they should work with you.
